MagnaFlow Vintage 2.5 Challenge
The Eastern Region formation was the big news of the month. If you have not read about this, goto the VSRG web site and click on the new Press Info link and look for the January 26 Press Release or click on (www.bsedan.com\pr01262001.htm ). Our original plan was to begin forming additional regions in 2002 but the opportunity to work with Peter Krause, who is quite well known and respected in the vintage racing community, allowed up to move our plans up.
Peter's impact was felt immediately with the addition of races on the East Coast as well as the recent mention of VSRG and the Magnaflow 2.5 Challenge on Speedvision's Internet site. To read this article, click on: (http://www.speedvision.com/pub/articles/classics/01road/010130a.html)
Our First Race of the Series is just 6 Weeks away! Are you ready? From what we hear it looks like there will be a sizable turnout of cars and spectators. Since this first race weekend also includes all of the HSR-West Challenge groups as well as the Shelby Cobra-GT-40 feature, it will be a great weekend for spectators. There is a nominal $10 per person gate fee to enter the track as a spectator but that covers both days. We plan to have a VSRG "Happy Hour" after the last race on Saturday that will be open to all VSRG members and their friends and family. There will also be an HSR-West dinner Saturday night and non-drivers may attend at a cost of $15 per person. We anticipate coverage by the motorsports press at this first event so be sure to wash & wax your racecar!
We would also appreciate you letting us know if you plan to race the first event. Your response will help us gauge what will be needed for the Happy Hour and other support needs for the first race. If you do not plan to enter the race, there will be no need to let us know. Drop us a note (jim@bsedan.com) if you plan to race.
VSRG turns 100! Our 100th member joined on January 31, 2001! The growth of VSRG has surprised all of us as we anticipated that we would not reach this point until much later this year. Approximately 80% of the current members reside on the West coast so with the addition of the Eastern Region we anticipate that the organization will go over 200 in the next 12 months.
VSRG participated at a MagnaFlow Open House the weekend of January 26th. The Friday portion of the event was primarily for members of the Press and we made a number of promising contacts. We would like to thank members Peter Nitoglia, Jon Petersen, Shelly Zide and Chris Welch for bringing their cars to the event for us to display as well as MagnaFlow for allowing us to participate in their event. Part of the activities included Dyno runs of various vehicles to include Jon Peterson's well prepared and period correct 510. To view photos of the weekend click on this special photo page or use the new link on the VSRG Notices page. Remember that MagnaFlow will provide VSRG members with free Dyno run's as well as exhaust systems, see the "Reminders from Prior Newsletters" below for details.
Rule Updates: We made a number of small wording corrections which have little or no impact. However we did add the weight rules for C-Sedan cars (under 1,300 cc) as our eligible car list allows for all legal SCCA Sedans regardless of their class.
Cars under 1301 cc displacement must weight a minimum of
1,000 pounds and follow the guidelines below
Push Rod, Non Crossflow 1.20 lb/cc
Push Rod, Crossflow 1.25 lb/cc
SOHC, Non Crossflow 1.30 lb/cc
SOHC, Crossflow 1.35 lb/cc
DHOC 1.40 lb/cc

The VSRG Photo Page has moved into the top 5
of pages viewed on the BSedan.Com and VSRG web sites. This is really quite
amazing that so much interest has been shown in the photo section in the
first full month that it was on-line. We only have a few photos so
we are asking again for car & driver photos as well as car and driver
profiles and we would like a lot more.
To save you some duplication of effort, we will forward
your information and images to MagnaFlow for the free product requirements
(above). We can accept any common graphic image format if you already
have scanned or digital images available. Please send your photos as an
attachment to an e-mail
if possible. Regular photos can be mailed to us however unless you
send a stamped return envelope we will not be able to return them.
Driver Profiles are still needed. We
ask that you e-mail us your
information. None of this is required and you may elect not to submit any
information or omit anything you do not wish to be published.

FIA Homologation and SCCA Recognition Forms
are almost if not completely impossible to find. We are in the process of
adding a new section to the BSedan.Com website that will contain scanned copies
of SCCA Recognition Forms and FIA Homologation Forms so that we can preserve
this important part of our racing history. We ask that anyone with such a
form for any B-Sedan car (1966 through 1972) please e-mail, fax or snail-mail
us a copy so that we can share it with other enthusiast. The Contacts page contains all of our
address info.
