Magnaflow Vintage 2.5 Challenge
Entries for Laguna Seca are due by August 6th for drivers with points that wish to take advantage of the entry priority, after that date entries are posted on a first come-first served basis. We have a few openings left so send your entry in if you plan to attend. We will not have a second run group as we had hoped but we are still attempting to increase the size of the field so we will continue to accept entries beyond the limit on a space-available basis. Once the field is full, new entries will be posted to a alternate list. If someone drops out or the field is expanded, then alternates will be picked in order their entry was received.Because so many members will be at the Monterey Historics including the VSRG staff, we have moved the entry acceptance confirmation deadline up one day to the 15th and we plan to publish the entry list on the 16th. Click to see the list of all of the entries received to date.If you are a member of HMSA and entered this race though them you will not be placed in the 2.5 Challenge group. You must contact us right away so that we can make arrangements to have your entry transferred to our group.Speaking of the Historics , most of you know by now that a quite number of 2.5 cars have been invited to this years event (August 17-19) and a big turnout of 2.5 fans and VSRG members is expected. We plan to attend and will post photos and articles on the BSedan.com news & images sections in the days following the event.Sport Compact Car Magazine's coverage of the Magnaflow Vintage 2.5 Challenge was excellent. The article published our little used internet address of BSedan.Org which points to the same site as the more familiar BSedan.Com. This allowed us to measure the increase in web traffic that is due to the article. Leading up to the release of the article, BSedan.Org was only used about 1% of the time. After the magazine hit the shelves that number jumped to 10% and we have added a number of new members. VSRG membership now stands over 140.Seat Belt Safety is on most every racer's mind since the unfortunate losses in NASCAR. Noted writer and TV sportscaster, Dick Berggren, has posted a very well researched article on this issue and it is well worth reading. The article can be found at: http://www.speedwayillustrated.com/beltstory.htmlLooking for Used Parts? Then you really need to check out a web site that has an on-line inventory from junkyards all over the U.S. All too often we are in need of parts that are all but impossible to find, but we have found a web site that is an amazing resource. The name, Car-Parts.com is so close to the better known online store for new parts (carparts.com) that many think they are the same place. This is a completely different site and is quite a resource for those of us that like to work on older cars. Their address is: http://car-part.com (note the missing www is correct, do not add it or you will be taken to the J.C. Whitney site!).Future Rule Changes:
As a "heads up", the following rule will be changed for the 2002 season.
6.B.1. All cars must be equipped with standard size and shape bumpers mounted in the original position. Bumper material is free.
