Great News. MagnaFlow , maker of high quality performance exhaust systems announced today that they assumed the title sponsorship of the Vintage 2.5 Challenge race series. To show our appreciation for MangaFlow's support, we have renamed the series to the MagnaFlow Vintage 2.5 Challenge Series. Look for many exciting announcements and opportunities in the coming weeks as a result of this race series partnership. We also welcome Dave Bean Engineering as a major new sponsor. This fine firm joins our other sponsors; Alfa Parts of Berkeley, Brecht BMW of Escondido, JAE Parts of Goleta, Sparco, HSR-West and BSedan.Com. You will find links to all of our sponsors on the VSRG home page.Dave Stall of San Diego has signed on as our official race announcer and will handle much of our PR as well. Dave is well known in Southern California as a true "car guy". He hosts two radio shows weekly on KFMB AM 760; Saturday is Car Talk beginning at noon and Sunday is Motorsports Weekly, also beginning at noon. Dave also writes a Motorsports column for two local papers as well being plugged into most every auto related event in Southern California.Rule Update: We have made two minor revisions to the rules aimed at clarifying a couple of points. (Note, recent changes will be shown in red on the web site). The first is the addition of a new rule C.1.d.- "Tires must be DOT approved, treaded (at time of manufacture) and a 60 or higher aspect ratio.". This is in keeping with common vintage racing rules. The second is the addition of a sentence to C.2 which reads "Unless stated otherwise on a valid, period correct recognition form, the track may not deviate more than 1/2 inch from stock". The prior sentence of this rule uses the SCCA Recognition form to define the track however obtaining a true SCCA Recognition form for a particular car may be hard to impossible. This change applies a commonly quoted value in lieu of the form.Fender Flares: We have had some inquires regarding what flares are allowed. The rule simply states that "period correct" flares are allowed. The interpretation that should be applied to this rule is; "what was used in the 71-72 Trans-AM 2.5 series" is legal. They do not have to be exact copies but will need to be close. The Series has attracted a great deal of attention and there are new opportunities that seem to appear every few days. We have taken the position that we will not publish anything regarding "possibilities" but we will notify you as soon as anything significant occurs.IMPORTANT NOTICE to NEW MEMBERS: We always send out a confirmation of your membership within a few minutes of your submission.
