Magnaflow Vintage 2.5 Challenge

Happy New Year! . We hope everyone had a great holiday season and that Santa left some good racing stuff for everyone.

With the new year we will be updating the VSRG website with a new look during the first quarter of the year. In addition to a new look, we will be changing the Photo page to feature the cars and drivers that compete in the series.

Rather than just having a link to a larger picture, we will give each participant a full page that will have photos of both the car and the driver as well as any info the driver wants on the page. We will also provide space for you to list you sponsors as well as web links to your sponsor site. For those that have already sent in photos we will use those and for those without photos we will have a photographer at each race to take the needed photos for you. Look for details on this in the next newsletter.

The bumper rule will NOT change after all. We have found that the requirement would have created quite a hardship for some people as bumpers for their cars are rare. As the original 2.5 Challenge did require bumpers, we do encourage them however they are optional for the 2002 season.

The "Purple Bug" of VSRG Member Eric Roberts was featured in a Sport Compact Car Magazine article where among other things they noted that the Bug pulled the same "G's" on the skidpad as a Ferrari F360 Modena!  Eric's work on this car has been rewarded with quite a bit of press coverage in 2001. Great job Eric!

The January issues of Automobile, Sport Compact Car and Road & Track Magazines had good articles on the BRE-510 of John Morton.  Because the Road & Track article mentioned VSRG and gave our website address, we noted quite an increase in traffic in December.  In addition we also picked up 10-15 new members in December bringing our membership to almost 200.

We have members that are in need of assistance in documenting allowed modifications to their car. Most of the time this is a need for the FIA forms or more often the SCCA Recognition form. We have attempted to collect these but only have a few on hand. To aid in specific request we have added a new section to the classified of "Assistance Needed:". Feel free to post your questions or information requests.
