The Vintage 2.5 Challenge Series has returned and looks to be bigger and better than ever. Much as the original intent of the first version of the series our focus will be on the statement found in the first paragraph of the rules; "While close competition is desired, this series will be conducted in the true spirit of vintage racing with emphasis on period correct cars, safety, courtesy and fun.".
One of the real weaknesses of the first Vintage 2.5 series was the use of a single class for all cars. While this was the approach for the original T/A series it is not a realistic approach in VIntage racing today as many of our members also participate with other organizations that have more restrictive rules. This led to a wide gap in performance and to a great deal of disenchantment which had the outcome of reduced participation. To address this we have defined a number of classes within the 2.5 Challenge Series that should provide more competitive racing for everyone.
For the most part the rules and points structure remain the same but there are a few changes. Points are scaled back for small fields but not eliminated and the complex moving scale proposed last year has been dropped for a simpler method.
The only real rule change has been the addition of 3.D. which addresses illegal motors or performance related parts. Please review the rules and points method on the Rules link .
With all of the time that has passed since the series was last active we are asking all members that wish to participate in the series or that wish to be associated with the series to use the Members link to re-register. Our older site use e-Mail and manual transcription of member information which was error prone. This site is designed to retain all of our data in databases on the web server and over time will become much more interactive.
Our schedule for 2008 has been posted and we will participate in all HSR-West events except the February PIR race.
You probably arrived here using the BSedan.Com address and were surprised to find it MIA. It's still around but we have changed the focus to support the Vintage 2.5 Challenge series and the original BSedan.Com will be altered to provide info on the original Trans-Am 2.5 Challenge series. There is a link on the left of this page that will carry you to the original pages beginning the first of March 2008.
It's official, the old e-Mail list is no longer in use. To receive the monthly newsletter and other VSRG e-mail you must signup via the member link.
Northern California's Thunderhill Park is the next stop for the VSRG Vintage 2.5 Challenge. This is a favorite of many drivers who enjoy a long track, technical turns (read off-camber) and a long drag-strip like front straight.
We (and HSR-West) are planning on the best California Speedway event to date. We plan to have a "Vintage Sedan Row" blocked off for our members in the pit area. We have made arrangements to set aside all of the last row for 2.5 cars (only) and we will have a "reserved" pit option for our members. In addition we are projecting enough entries to have our own group for this event! More details will be in the April Newsletter.
